I also like the scene earlier on the NOSTROMO bridge where we actually get to hear the bizarre signal from the Space Jockey's Derelict on the planet.. After all the creatures are ALL about perpetuating the species, and this would be the most logical thing to happen.. Without those scenes,it seems as though the adult creature is just running around the ship 'mindlessly' killing NOSTROMO crew members for no reason.. That being after Brett gets pulled up into the vents where Parker runs in only to have blood be rained down upon him.. I personally like the directors cut of Alien (and Aliens for that matter), it was as OptimusPrime75 said, a more complete vision, and I found it had more tension than the cut version.. Those deleted scenes showing Captain Dallas & Brett being in cocoons & being turned into new eggs via resin makes the film more logical.. When Bretts looking for Jones you see the Alien 'hanging' from the landing gear and it looks like its part of it.. As for the question of the eggs It's a hard one A lone drone or warrior should be able to produce an egg containing a queen, that would make sense.. Also at the end theyve changed the scene where the Alien looks at Jones in his cat box, in the original the Alien looks at him and looks to the side in puzzelment (like dogs do) In the new version the Alien hits the box throwing it to the side (thats why the box is laid on its side when Ripley goes back to get him).. I don't remember where i saw it, perhaps a documentary or behind the scenes look, but i've always felt it needed to be in the film.. When Kane is in the egg chamber you see him take out a gun when he's looking at the movement in the egg, Ridley removed it as he didnt want anyone to know they had weapons on board.

Apparently this kind of thing goes on in the insect world all the time As for why it was 'egging' both Brett and Dallas.. who knows? Maybe as Drone said the first Alien to hatch has some sort of special enzyme or hormone that can change the next egg into a queen.. Also when Brett gets it in the head you see Parker & Ripley run in and see Bretts blood hitting Parkers t-shirt.. If anyone makes a fan cut they best include a scene that appears neither in the theatrical or directors cut, but 1 in which i have a very vivid memory of seeing somewhere along the way..
